With an "intuitive sense of musical line" (cvnc.org), my works for acoustic instruments celebrate the role of the performer as an expressive vehicle through an exploration of soloistic - and often virtuosic - writing. This engagement is vital to my music and accommodates the inclusion and juxtaposition of visceral aesthetic elements within a decidedly modern musical language.
I often find inspiration in extra-musical ideas, primarily from the visual domain. This influence is evident in the cinematically derived forms of Scenes/Duos and ombres d'un reflet, John Martin's painting in The Assuaging of the Waters, and Le Corbusier's theoretical writings in Three Reminders for the Architect.
